Former Wolves defender Roger Johnson has joined Charlton until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old was a free agent after being released by the Midlands club yesterday having been frozen out under Kenny Jackett at Molineux.

Johnson spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham having earlier in the season represented Sheffield Wednesday 17 times.

Charlton had hoped to sign two players before yesterday’s transfer window closed but ultimately failed to do so.

Johnson’s arrival today ends their search for a defender but the Addicks are still on the lookout for a new forward and will hope to draft one in once the loan window opens.
