South-east London derby games with Millwall are normally like waking up on Christmas Day only to find out all your presents have been stolen, Mum has burnt the turkey and someone has beaten up Santa.

The anticipation of a game with one of your biggest rivals is always something to revel in.

However, the crushing realisation we’ve once again failed to beat them - and for the last five games failed to even score against them - brings you back down to earth with a bump.

The fact that the highlight of games I’ve seen us play against that lot is probably a 4-4 draw against10 men says it all.

No matter what form we’ve gone into the game with, how bad they have been that season and how heavily the odds have seemingly been stacked in our favour, we never, ever perform against Millwall.

Which makes me apprehensive with this Saturday’s grudge match fast approaching.

This is arguably Charlton’s best squad since relegation from the Premier League in 2007.

Millwall have had a shaky start to the season.

The Lions have only won once away from home all season, and Charlton are unbeaten at home.

More so than ever, all the signs seem to be pointing to a Charlton win.

This defeat is really going to hurt!

Vote here to have your say on who will win Saturday's game

Before the international break, we got our second away win of the season at Reading.

It was the first match I’ve missed this season as I instead went to the FA Cup derby between Bromley and Dartford, a much anticipated game which ended in crushing disappointment for Bromley.

But while I was getting a practice game in for Saturday, the Addicks were claiming exactly the sort of positive result that would give us false hope before a south-east London derby.

Big Bad Bobby once again masterminded a dogged away display where we frustrated the home side and limit their chances on our goal before making sure we were clinical with ours.

I think Saturday could be a similar game, with Millwall setting up to try and frustrate Charlton meaning it will be up to us to break them down.

Bob Peeters praised the support away at Reading, which was pretty vociferous by all accounts.

We’ve got to make sure we bring that to The Valley on Saturday to try and give the team the backing they deserve and help secure our first win over that lot in a very long time.

Please, please, please, let us get what we want!

Come on you reds!
