Addicks head coach Bob Peeters says Roland Duchatelet is not the type of owner to be on his case if the club aren’t performing.

Charlton suffered their first league defeat of the campaign at Bournemouth just before Duchatelet arrived in London for talks with the Valley manager.

The duo spent Monday evening together at dinner and spoke again after the 2-1 victory over Bolton, a result which leaves the club just below the play-off zone on goal difference.

Peeters was asked this lunchtime what kind of feedback he gets from his boss.

“He never makes it clear,” the SE7 manager replied.

“I think he is happy.

“He took me and he pays me to do my job and I think me and my staff try to get the best out of this group. So far we haven’t done too bad so he is not complaining, that’s the most important thing.

“I’m not a manager who needs all the time confirmation from the owner that you are doing a good job.

“We get good results, there is a good flow around Charlton.

“People are starting to respect us again and for me that’s the most important thing.

“He doesn’t put pressure on me when you win or lose, so I will never get a phone call when we lose a game or whatever.

“I think he must be very happy at this moment but he is not a man who will call you and tell that you are doing a great job.”

Peeters had earlier been pressed as to whether Duchatelet would dig deep and spend to strengthen Charlton’s promotion bid in the January transfer window.

“I think he is backing us up anyway,” the manager said.

“He has brought in some good players already but if we are in this situation around new year I think one or two quality players will come in.

“For me it is important if we bring in players they must be quality.

“I had a good meeting with Roland.

“We had dinner on Monday evening, he was at the game on Tuesday so we had a good conversation about everything concerning Charlton.”
