CHARLTON head coach Bob Peeters says that his side deserved no more than a point following their home draw with Birmingham.

Igor Vetokele had put Charlton in front before David Davis deservedly levelled for the visitors after the break.

The Addicks never managed to put Blues, who saw Clayton Donaldson’s first-half equaliser ruled out for offside, under a sustained period of pressure.

And Peeters believes that a point was probably as fair result as Charlton made it 11 matches unbeaten.

“Overall, the quality was not good enough to win the game,” he said.

“We tried to create chances and we did for 15 or 20 minutes and then we started to give the game away.

“At half time we adjusted it, had the first chance and then again the quality was not enough.

“Both teams pushed to try and win the game after the equaliser but a draw was a fair result.

“We’ve played better at The Valley but I can’t hold it against my players because they have given a lot and we are 11 games unbeaten. We are in the top six, too.

“With the squad we have available at the moment, we almost had an under 21s bench today, we need to be realistic and not expect too much of them.”

Michael Morrison came in for his first league start of the season in place of Tal Ben Haim, who was observing Yom Kippur.

And Peeters said that the former Sheffield Wednesday defender did well.

He said: “He did his job. We know we can bank on him and that is the most important thing.

“He was unlucky not to block the shot for their goal but that can happen. I can’t fault any of my players.

“If you see where we have come from and what we’re doing every week then maybe expectations get too high.

“You can’t win them all, though, and if you can’t then it is important that you do not lose.

“We need to be very humble and know that we’re not the best team in this league but if we work very hard then we can achieve something.”
