Bob Peeters feels patience is still required before Frederic Bulot can show The Valley faithful exactly what he is capable of.

The 23-year-old joined the Addicks on loan from Standard Liege in late August and made his debut as a 75th minute substitute for Lawrie Wilson during Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Wolves.

Peeters admitted Bulot might have been off the pace in what was a keenly contested encounter between the two play-off rivals, but is backing him to get up to speed with the rigours of Championship football sooner rather than later.

He said: “It was a difficult game (to make an impact) because if you come on at that moment you have two teams are fighting to win the game.

“When he came on he gave us that little bit more possession on the ball again, but because he has only trained two sessions with the team - the discipline when we lose the ball and when we have the ball - he needs to get aware of it.

“That’s normal.

“We need to work very closely with him, but on the ball he shows that he has ability.”

Peeters added: “He trained today but he needs time to settle in.

“It is a new competition, a new country and he is still in the hotel.

“He found an apartment so he needs to settle in first but it is a long season. We have 39 games.

“I think he will get games in a few weeks but at this time we have to give him time to adjust to our team and to the way we play.”
