LAST weekend was a busy one of championships for Dartford Harriers athletes.

Saturday saw the national cross country championships take place at Parliament Hill Fields, which was followed the next day by the Kent county indoor championships. The indoor track & field championships on Sunday at Lee Valley Stadium, Edmonton, was the last of the main indoors events.

Dartford came home with seven gold medals, six silvers and two bronzes, with several personal bests and two championship best performances.

Isio Orogun, in the U15 girls’ category, won the 300m in a cbp and new club record time of 43.7s, adding this to her southern counties 300m title won in January.

Senior lady Kat Sutton did a gold double, winning the 200m and 400m titles with a cbp in the 400m.

Derek Aguma also won two golds in the U15 boys’ 60m and 200m.

Senior ladies: Kat Sutton 200m 1st 26.36, 400m 1st 58.76 cbp, Kirsty Taylor 60m 2nd 8.54.

U15 boys: James Colwell 60m ht. 5th 8.16. Derek Aguma 60m 1st 7.68, 200m 1st 24.63.

U17 men: Joe Millman lj 1st 5.63 pb 400m ht. 3rd 56.2 pb, Lewis Jackson 60m semi f 6th 7.84, 200m ht 2nd 25.5 pb, Christopher Bishop 60m ht 5th 8.18, 200m ht 4th 27.07, Morgan Rees 60m semi f 4th 7.59, 400m 2nd 53.66 pb, David Hall 60m 5th 7.27, hj 2nd 1.85.

Senior men: Alex Lee lj 4th 6.12, 60m semi f 5th 7.51, Jack Fox tj 4th 12.11.

The national cross country championships on Saturday at Parliament Hill Fields attracted a large entry of approximately 1,700 in the boys’ and men’s races and 650 in the girls’ and ladies’ contest.

Fifteen Dartford Harriers joined the throng on a sunny day to tackle a muddy hilly course.

U17 men: Alex Cameron 250.

Senior men: Steve Hickmott 1,204, Jason Marchant 1,570, Bob Coombes 1,621.

U17 ladies: Cathy Benson 178.

Senior ladies: Lyn Morgan 427, Steph Wood 451, Julie Hibberd 577.

Elsewhere, in the British masters south of England indoor championships at Lee Valley, W35 Kirsty Taylor won silver in the 60m, timing 8.6s.
