Cambridge Harrier triumphs in cross country

SABRINHA Coe-Sinha is the new Kent schools junior girls Year 8 & 9 cross country champion.

The Cambridge Harrier was running against girls not just from her own year, but also the year above her.

Coe-Sinha managed to work her way through the field after a tough start, battling for first place through the wooded part of the course before sprinting clear at the finish for victory.

As a result, she has now been selected to represent the Kent schools team at the English schools cross country championships.

Meanwhile, Cambridge Harrier Ruth Onyekwe took silver in the U20 200m in 25.46s on day one of the southern indoor championships on Sunday, a time which is only just outside her outdoor personal best.

New member Alex Bell replicated Onyekwe’s achievement by running a storming 200m from the inside lane to snatch a silver in the U20 men’s race in 22.90s.

Kate Laidlow took fourth in the senior women’s 400m, as did Joe Berth Jones in the same race and Alex and Juvenal Iragaba in the U17 men’s pentathlon.

Stephen Ball got through to the semi-final of the U17 boys’ 400m but despite running an all-time pb of 53.67s, he couldn’t quite qualify for the final.

Days two and three of the Southern champs are next Saturday and Sunday at Lee Valley Last weekend Ella Waite smashed her pb and, along with it, the 33-year U13 girls’ club record.

Waite’s previous best was 1.25m but she jumped into the record books with 1.42m.
