FIVE members of Dartford Harriers masters’ team travelled to Ghent on Saturday for the Belgian masters indoor championships.
The event took place in the new facility, which has a six-lane track, with eight lanes in the centre for the shorter sprints and a warm-up area on a lower level.
Dartford Harriers ran as guests and, as such, were not entitled to receive medals.
Results: W35: Kirsty Taylor, 60m 1st 8.36; 200m 2nd 27.93. W50: Teresa Eades, pole vault 1st 2m.; high jump 1st 1.30. Anne Goad, 60m 3rd 9.58; shot 1st 9.52. W55: Pat Halstead, 1,500m 2nd 5:47.97; M70: Arthur Kimber, 400m 1st 78.40, 800m 1st 3:10.50.
Meanwhile, the final Kent fitness league meeting of the season was held at New Barn Park in Swanley.
Tony Durey led the Harriers home and picked up first prize in the over 45 age group for the season, finishing 15th on the day and overall.
Next in for the men was John Kraushaar in 22nd, closely followed by Stuart Waterman in 24th.
Frank Hudson had his highest finish of the season in 41st, as did Steve Hickmott in 57th.
Next in was Paul Hills in 133rd and finally Marcus Graves in 149th.
The men finished the season in 10th place overall out of 18 teams.
In the women’s race an improving Steph Wood led the team home in 24th place, followed by Hayley Hickmott in 35th.
Cara Oliver, having run the previous day for Kent, came in 49th.
Other finishers for the Harriers were Gillian Skellon in 55th, Michele Hickmott 58th, Jenny Goodwin 59th, Cassie Benson 60th and Maureen Farmer 65th.
The ladies finished in ninth for the season.
Ruth Ward, who also raced for Kent 24 hours earlier, placed 12th for the season.
