Truck championship to be decided with a bang
THERE will be fireworks both on and off the track at the final headline event of a busy Brands Hatch 2012 season on November 3 and 4 when the spectacular British truck racing championship ends with a stunning Guy Fawkes night display.
The final round of the championship will be a free-for-all, with both the division one and two titles settled at the north Kent circuit.
In the top class, Matt Summerfield has defeated rival and 2011 champion Dave Jenkins, who will be out to remind the crowd that he is still a force to be reckoned with.
The spectacular Jenkins, renowned for his sideways style, will be keen to take second place in the table from Richard Collett.
Meanwhile, division two has been dominated by Tonbridge’s David Smith, who has defeated fellow Kent racers Oscar Clark and the Powell brothers, with series regular Graham joined by newcomer John this year.
Oscar and John lie third and fourth in the standings and could make it a 1-2-3 for the county at the final round.
There are four truck races on the Sunday, providing high-powered bumper-to-bumper action, plus plenty of powerslides amongst the many thrills and spills.
A packed programme of motorsport, including Pickup Trucks, saloons racing and the frantic Legends cars, will provide non-stop action from start to finish.
The weekend will also contain plenty of fun for all the family, with off-track entertainment including fun fairs and face painting, plus themed attractions. Entry for children aged 12 and under is free.
However, the excitement doesn’t end once the racing has finished on Sunday evening.
The weekend will end with a sensational fireworks display on the eve of November 5.
Taking place on the South Bank opposite the start/finish straight, it will ensure that a season of major events at Brands Hatch, which has included Paralympic Road Cycling events, goes off with a bang.
Tickets for the British truck racing championship and firework display at Brands Hatch on November 3 and 4 are available from £17, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.
