Grace Griffith proudly shows off her gold medal
TSUKURO Judo Academy in Orpington has produced its first junior British champion.
Grace Griffith was fighting in the 10/11 years U36kg category at the event in St Helens and battled her way to win gold after winning three fights, using an ippon to win one of them.
Coach Robert New, who has trained the youngster since the age of seven, was there by Griffith’s side to give her the encouragement and technical advice she need during her challenging fights.
He said: “I am one very proud coach and a touch emotional at the result.
“This is the first junior champion at the Tsukuru Club and we hope for many more.”
