England duo pass on tips to Dartford cricketer

DARTFORD cricketer Dan James took part in a unique net session at Edgbaston indoor school with England bowlers Graeme Swann and Jimmy Anderson.

The session, hosted by Swann and Anderson, saw James take part in a series of first-class drills and exercises, providing a rare insight into the training of an international player.

Having won the spot at the session by entering a competition through the NatWest Cricket Club, James took part in two separate training drills.

He received tips on spin and seam bowling from two of England’s premier bowlers before they head off on their tour of India.

James said: “This was such an incredible experience! I’m a huge cricket fan so being able to attend a coaching session with some of my heroes was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

“I’m very grateful to NatWest for giving me this opportunity.”

Swann added: “It’s wonderful to be able to connect with the fans, show them what we do behind the scenes and how we prepare ourselves for matches.

“There was a really good standard at the NatWest net session this year and I hope we were able to provide insight and inspiration that will help these cricketers in the future.”
