BBHC edged out as goals rain in

BEXLEYHEATH & Belvedere Hockey Club hosted Marden Russets in what was expected to be a tight encounter.

Marden started the stronger and scored two goals in the first 10 minutes with some clinical finishing after a bit of assistance from the home team’s some sloppy passing.

Gradually BBHC came back into the game and after good approach play by Jamie Perfitt, an instinctive shot from Mark Hunnisett flew into the net and BBHC were back in the game.

The BBHC pressure continued and this time it was Kevin King with a fine strike who levelled the scores.

Marden were now really on the rocks and attack after attack continued before finally a Perfitt cross was nudged in by man of the match Hunnisett to make it 3-2.

Unfortunately for BBHC the half-time whistle came at just the wrong time, allowing Marden to regroup.

They came out in the second half and created three or four short corners in succession, converting a trio to retore their lead 5-3.

BBHC rallied and remained on top for the remainder of the match but despite a handful of short corners and numerous half chances, they could not find the goals to match their pressure.

This weekend BBHC will attempt to bounce back at Brighton.
