KENNY Jackett is determined there will be no repeat of what happened to the Lions after the last international break ahead of the big derby meeting with Crystal Palace in a fortnight.

Millwall went into that on the back of a 3-1 home win over Middlesbrough but returned to Championship action with a heavy 4-1 defeat at Hull, which started a six-game winless run only ended today by the 2-1 victory over Bolton.

But the Lions will have to wait two weeks before making the short trip to in-form Palace and the manager is keen to make sure this time his side don’t lose any momentum as a result of the internationals.

“We’ve got to make sure we don’t,” said Jackett.

“Whatever we’ve done in the last international break now we will look at the staff and make sure that is not the case because we have a local derby against a Crystal Palace side who have won six out of the last seven.

“It is a very good run they are on. It is a local derby and a big game for us, so we have to make sure we are right.

“We are three games undefeated as well with two draws away and a big win today so we’ve got to really build on that and capitalise on it and make sure we don’t slip back because it is a very competitive league.”

Jackett added: “We are very pleased to be in it but we can’t take anything for granted and the points total is very close and it is generally in the Championship right up until February and March.

“We will have perhaps Shane Lowry and Karleigh Osborne back for our next batch of games and we hope David Forde and Andy Keogh don’t pick up any injuries on their international games while they are away.

“Then we can really focus on this local derby and make sure we do ourselves justice.”

Palace’s man of the moment is winger Wilfried Zaha and the Lions boss knows he will have to be kept quiet when the two rivals meet at Selhurst.

Jackett said: “He has got two goals today as well and they’ve done very well to hold him.

“He is a big player for them and obviously we have to make sure we do our homework and negate him as much as we can while not talking away any of our strengths to go and be able to win the game.”
