BBHC suffer drubbing at hands of Folkestone
4:57pm Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in Sport
BEXLEYHEATH & Belvedere Hockey Club’s men’s first team started the new season with a heavy 8-1 defeat at Folkestone.
BBHC were missing some key players but went into the tie looking to be competitive.
Having started brightly, BBHC conceded the first goal after 10 minutes.
For the rest of the first half Folkestone played an attacking game which benefited from BBHC defensive mistakes, scoring three more times.
This is not to say that BBHC played badly as there were patterns of play and movement which were encouraging, but the visitors were not as clinical, or fortunate, in the scoring areas.
In the second period BBHC made more inroads into the Folkestone half and won a couple of short corners, one resulting in the rewarding of a penalty flick which Mark Hunnisett took and scored from.
Alas, BBHC could not eradicate all the errors and by trying to score more goals they conceded a further four.
BBHC will attempt to bounce back at home to Herne Bay this weekend.
