3:47pm Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in Sport
A TRIO of youngsters from the News Shopper region were put through their paces after taking part in the LTA national talent ID finals at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton.
Blackheath’s Daniel Goodwin and Bromley’s Nell Miller, both aged 12, joined 13-year-old Bromley boy Thomas Wright at the event.
The trio were among 100 youngsters from across the country invited to the session.
The players showed off their skills in front of the LTA talent ID team, who were aiming to spot future performance players.
Goodwin, who is part of the AEGON FutureStars scheme, said: “Talent ID is fun and energetic, I get to play with some great players and it’s always a challenge.”
Bullers Wood pupil Miller said: “The coaches are great, they make the day really enjoyable and varied.
“My favourite part is the fitness tests.”
Langley School student Wright added: “I’ve been coming to the Talent ID finals for quite a few years now but it’s always really interesting to see how much I’ve improved since the last one.
“The tests we do allow us to compare our scores and monitor our progression.”
