Gymnasts continue to impress on national stage

GREENWICH Royals Gymnastics Club made their mark as an elite club earlier this month at the national Alpha Factor competition.
The weekend started with the level three (13 years +) event, where Melanie Morrice and Chloe West finished finish and second respectively, winning two apparatus awards each.
At level four (12 years +) Eran Thomas finished 10th and Niah Iles-Broughton 15th.
In the level four (10/11yrs) Isabella Nunn placed 28th, winning two piece awards, and Louise D’Arcy 34th to win one award.
Sky Bebbington performed exceptionally at the level four (nine years) event, winning the entire category, receiving a gold on three pieces and taking a special award for her vault.
Amy Lockey finished 20th, winning one piece award.
Catherine Nuqui secured the bronze medal in a toughly fought Llvel three (11/12 year) category, also winning three piece awards.
In the last round of the competition, Courtney Southern and Tayla Chilver competed in the level two (14 years +) category. After a tough competition, Southern took bronze with two piece awards as Chilver finished fourth.
The overall efforts of all the gymnasts helped the Greenwich team to finish in fourth.
Following this successful weekend, Greenwich Royals attended the London Gymnastics annual awards night, where Bebbington was awarded a bronze merit award for her success representing the capital at the national finals this year. Her coach Kaylie Reakes was awarded a bronze master coach award.
Jessica Hannen won an award for her hard work into developing gymnastics within the London region.
