BRIGHTON are next up at The Den on Saturday and Millwall boss Kenny Jackett fully expects the Seagulls to be involved in this season’s promotion chase.

Gus Poyet’s sit one point off leaders Blackburn in third place and will be chasing a fifth straight Championship win this weekend.

“Brighton have made a great start and made their intentions and ambitions for the season known,” said Jackett.

“At the moment they have the likes of Stephen Dobbie as a sub.

“They’ve had a constant investment since coming up into the division by getting in the likes of Dobbie, Will Buckley Craig Mackail-Smith and Wayne Bridge.

“They’ve brought some big players into the club and are obviously going for it.”

New loan signing Chris Wood came off the bench to replace Darius Henderson for the final 33 minutes of Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat against Cardiff and showed some glimpses he could be a hit at The Den.

But Jackett refused to speculate on whether the West Brom player would start against one of his former loan sides.

“We will see,” the Lions boss said.

“I haven’t made my mind up in terms of the team selection against Brighton.

“He did have a loan spell at Brighton so it is one of his old clubs.

“I was pleased with him when he came on against Cardiff on Tuesday and am very pleased to have Chris Wood here.

“He is only 20 and has got a lot of potential. I feel he can do very well for us in both the short term and the long term.”

Millwall are waiting to see whether Paul Robinson, Jack Smith and Chris Taylor will be available to take on the Seagulls, with Jackett rating all three as 50-50.
