Lions boss: Cardiff display between boxes was as good as any since Championship return
MILLWALL manager Kenny Jackett believes in certain areas Millwall played as well as they have done since their return to the Championship in Tuesday’s 2-0 loss against Cardiff.
The Lions dominated the first half but couldn’t make the breakthrough, paying the price when Cardiff struck twice in two early second half minutes to collect the points.
That was Millwall’s fourth loss from six games this season but despite the depressing statistic, the boss feels there wasn’t a lot wrong against the Bluebirds.
He explained: “I wasn’t disappointed with my side on Tuesday night.
“There were a couple of exceptional bits of extra quality by Cardiff but I felt overall it was close between the two teams and we matched them in every department.
“We have to just work on that cutting edge a little bit in both boxes, which is where games are won and lost, but we aren’t far off and playing against these good sides we are very capable of getting results.”
Jackett added: “We just couldn’t quite find that cutting edge and haven’t had a clean sheet this season.
“In between the boxes we played very well, it was probably as good as we have since we’ve been in the division.
“We want to keep that because that does get you a foothold in the game, which is very important.
“But we know where we need to improve.”
