TAMIKA Mkandawire is set to leave Millwall temporarily on loan in a bid to get back to full fitness.

The midfielder has been out of first team action for almost a year now and even though he is finally on the road to recovery and a return to first team action at The Den, manager Kenny Jackett feels a short spell away from the club is the best option for all parties.

The Lions chief said: “We will be looking to get Tam Mkandawire some game time and get him out on loan as he recovers from his injury.

“He played again today for the development group.

“That’s two games now so he has to keep working towards trying to recover from this injury and make the gap up from where he has been ie being out for a year to the Championship, which is quite a big jump.

“We will be making him available (for loan) to bridge that gap from being out for well over a year now and being at a Championship standard fitness.”
