THERE was an action packed night for Star Kickboxing members at the Kombat Zone Clash night on September 9.

The Gravesend club had four fighters in action and all came out on top in three of them.

Debutant Tina Harvey belied her inexperience to overpower her opponent Azra Parvaiv (Bailang), winning all three rounds to secure a fighter of the night award.

Reece Chuter landed some big shots which Gavin Broomfield (Hastings Kickboxing) was managing to take until the third round.

But Chuter’s power then became too much and he put Broomfield down with a straight shot and then a spinning backfist right on the final bell to get a unanimous verdict.

Eddie Smith won the opening round against Neil Ayton (TKO) but an accidental headbutt in the second seemed to change the outcome as Ayton merged the unanimous victor.

Finally James “The Entertainer” Gridley started to pick up the pace in the third round against Ash Jones (Essex), backing his rival up to the ropes and throwing a ferocious spinning back kick.

It landed perfectly to put his opponent down and Jones never got back up, with Gridley’s next target a European title shot at Kombat Zone on November 25. For more information on that night, or to join Star Kickboxing, visit starkickboxing.net or call Paul on 07921 779852.
