A YOUNG karter from Greenhithe is set to start racing in full MSA races when he turns eight next month.

Alex Lloyd first drove a bambino kart when he was just three years old and started competing in the bambino class at Buckmore Park and Lydd Kart Circuit when he was four, where he was a regular front runner.

He then progressed into the Honda Clubman class when he turned seven, racing at Lydd kart circuit (non MSA).

The Culverstone Green Primary School pupil has just completed the summer championship where he secured second place overall and achieved first place in more heats than any other driver in the championship.

Lloyd is the youngest driver on the grid, which often consists of 24 drivers aged between eight and 12.

He has qualified in pole many times and regularly achieves the fastest lap times in the heats and final and leads from start to finish.
