Charlton judo ace books semi-final spot

CHARLTON judo star Gemma Gibbons is through to the semi-final in the women’s U78kg category.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a stunning late victory over Mongolia’s Lkhamdegd Purevjargal to book a place in the quarter-finals.

And she pulled off a big shock in her last eight encounter by defeating Holland’s Marhinde Verkerk, the former world champion.

She will now face France’s Audrey Tcheumeo in this afternoon’s semi-final encounter, which is scheduled to start at 2.14pm.
