No Addicks bid yet for N'Guessan

CHARLTON have not made a bid for Millwall attacker Dany N’Guessan despite newspaper claims the Addicks had been quoted a £150,000 fee for the Frenchman.

N’Guessan struck four times in seven games during a highly productive loan spell at The Valley in the latter stages of last season.

But he is now back at The Den and remains a big part of Millwall manager Kenny Jackett’s plans for the forthcoming season – for now at least.

Jackett said: “I haven’t had any approach or offers from Charlton.

“I can only deal with what happens.

“I’m focussed on the training and the pre-season programme, which is very important, and after that we have three games in Ireland and three more games when we come back here to build into our season.

“At the start of the season there is potentially six games in three weeks, an international break and then a potential of another seven games, so you do need a squad.

“You need everybody together and you need everybody to be very fit and clear about what your aims and objectives are when you are playing those games.

“My focus is on getting those players fit for a crucial period and if the phone rings about a player along the way then we will assess it then.”

Jackett also had some positive news on another former Addick Therry Racon, whose first season with Millwall was ruined by an ankle injury sustained last August in the League Cup win at Plymouth.

The boss said: “Therry Racon has started pre-season very well.

“It will be interesting now how he goes into the games.

“We will take him to Ireland next week where we have three games in six days and we are looking forward to seeing him.

“He has come back very positive, he is happy and comfortable with the ankle and that wasn’t the state he was in at the end of last season.

“Therry is in a good place now in terms of his physical fitness because the ankle is good and I hope that continues.”

Millwall’s three-game Irish tour begins at Shelbourne on Monday and the pre-season trip to the Emerald Isle is now becoming something of a regular feature in the Lions’ calendar with the benefits clear as far as Jackett is concerned.

“It is the whole package,” he explained. “It gets us away but it isn’t too far and isn’t too expensive in that respect.

“The training facilities are very good there and in terms of the games they are in the middle of their season.

“Pre-season games for Millwall are traditionally pretty tough so we’ve found this one and a particular training base which we like.

“I will be taking 23 fully fit players and they will all play in those games.”
