4:58pm Saturday 30th June 2012 in Sport By Steve Reed
South London & Kent Pool Alliance Tier 2 East leaders Bellegrove Social Club A are still unbeaten after nine games.
This week they played Glenmore Arms A who gave them a good game by taking the last two sets to the odd frame but it was the first set that did all the damage, which Bellegrove took 4-1 making the overall score 3-0 and 10-5.
Gary Dixon led the charge with three out of three with Stephen Pearce just behind winning his two frames including a great clearance in his second.
Porcupine are now just four points behind Glenmore after a 3-0 10-5 victory over the Crown.
At the bottom of the table Royal Standard closed the gap against their opponents White Hart B to just two points with a 2-1 9-6 win.
Tier 2 West saw Beech Tree Nuthouse surge into second place with a 2-1 8-7 win over Rileys Rovers.
There was plenty of twists and turns in this match as the first set swung one way then the other with Shane O’Reilly eventually taking it with his first of three.
Paul Dawson and his recent SLKPA Pairs competition winning partner Ryan Francis won the first two frames of the second set but the Nuthouse won the next three for the set.
Dawson then won his third of the night and was quickly followed by Craig Jones doing the same for Beech Tree but Rovers took the last two frames to nick the set and a point.
Rileys Choppers bounced back from last week’s defeat with a great 3-0 12-3 win over Kings Arms.
Alex Dobbins followed up his SLKPA Lower Division Singles win last weekend with three out of three and he was joined by Captain Darren Porter and Rob Hearn.
Fox under the Hill lost their grasp on second place with a shock 3-0 9-6 defeat to Bellegrove Social Club B.
Despite the loss Richard Merricks was on form with three frame wins and he was joined by Bellegrove’s Dave Graham.
Summerfield eased away from Glenmore Arms II at the bottom of the table with a 2-1 8-7 win.
Erith Snooker Master 8’ers started well against Elite League leaders O’Connors by winning the first two frames but they went on to lose the next eight.
They went on to win another two frames in the final set but O’Connors were dominant with a 3-0 11-4 victory overall.
Paul Williams won two of Erith’s four frames but Michael Clayton and Joe Kane won two out of two for O’Connors and Stephen Kelly and Nick Gillet both won their solitary frame.
Rileys Hotshots stay in contention for the title with a 2-1 8-7 win over Rileys Woolwich putting them four points behind O’Connors with a game in hand.
Pickwick continue their good form winning the first seven frames against White Hart A, eventually taking the game 2-1 11-4.
