Enver-Marum lands Stevenage deal
4:01pm Wednesday 27th June 2012 in Sport
LIAM Enver-Marum has moved from Ebbsfleet to League One Stevenage on a one-month trial contract.
The 24-year-old striker played a big role as Fleet made a comfortable mid-table finish in their first season back in the Conference, scoring 13 goals following his arrival at the club last summer from Forest Green Rovers.
That form clearly didn’t go unnoticed and the former Reading youngster’s reward is another crack at a Football League career – if he can impress Stevenage manager Gary Smith during pre-season.
Ebbsfleet manager Liam Daish admitted Enver-Marum’s departure from Stonebridge Road was a blow.
He told the club’s official website: “Obviously I am disappointed to lose Liam and I know he found the decision to sign for Stevenage instead of us a tough one.
“His decision was purely a football one and at 24 he believed this could be his real chance to become a football league player albeit on a short deal to start with.
“I know Liam had options at Conference level but wanted only to play for us if he were to remain a Conference player.
“It was the draw of becoming a League 1 player with Stevenage, nothing else.
“I am also resigned to losing Ricky Shakes to Kidderminster Harriers, also for footballing reasons.
“After a meeting with Ricky last week it was clear that the offer of full-time football at Kidderminster and a new challenge really was behind his thinking.”
