NEWS Shopper readers have failed to show the same confidence in Chalrton manager Iain Dowie as the club's chief executive.

Dowie was given the dreaded vote of confidence from Richard Murray this week after the Addicks' terrible start to the season, which has left the club bottom of the Premiership after just one win in eight matches.

In an online poll on News Shopper's site, more than half of voters want Dowie sacked.

Results have been unacceptable, said 46.9 per cent of people, while another 6.3 per cent said there are much better managers.

Dowie was backed by just slightly more than a third of people who voted.

In the poll, 28.1 per cent said judge him after he has had more time, while 6.3 per cent said he is the best man for the job.

The undecided vote was 12.5 per cent.
