DARTFORD manager Tony Burman understands Sunday’s Conference South play-off final will be tough but is hopeful his side can triumph at Princes Park.
The Darts face local rivals Welling this weekend after securing a 3-1 aggregate win over Basingstoke.
And manager Burman is hoping his side can carry momentum into the derby.
He said: “I am delighted we have got through two difficult games to the final.
“We will give it our best shot, that’s for sure, and see what happens.
“It is what happens on the day and we are hopeful we can make it up into the next level.
“I have seen enough of Welling this season, I know all about them and obviously they are a decent side.”
Finishing higher than Welling (third) has given Dartford (second) home advantage over their rivals for Sunday’s game.
Despite this, Burman believes it will take much more than that to ensure promotion.
He explained: “It might give us a slight advantage but I don’t think that is going to matter too much.
“It’s just going to be game with a lot of support for both team and hopefully it will be a good atmosphere.”
On the topic of promotion, Burman believes it would be a fantastic achievement for the club but added it wouldn’t be a disaster for the club if they missed out this time.
He said: “Promotion from any league to a higher league is a fantastic achievement.
“This could be a big step in our progression in what we want to achieve and hopefully we are on track.
“If it doesn’t work out for us, it’s not the end of the world and we will try again the following season.
“But this is an opportunity for it to work out and hopefully we can do that.”
Dartford v Welling will kick off at 3pm on Sunday.
The game is not all ticket, although fans are strongly advised to purchase their tickets in advance from Princes Park.
They are not currently available for sale but fans should keep regular checks on the official Dartford website for regular updates at dartfordfconline.com
