South London & Kent Pool Alliance Elite League new boys White Hart A gave highly tipped title contenders O’Connors a real run for their money this week.

It was a close match all night with each set being won by the same 3-2 score line.

O’Connors took the first set with White Hart winning the second before Michael Clayton won his third frame of the evening and the decider at 1-1 & 7-7 when White Hart Captain Scott Shephard potted the black and the white together to give O’Connors the match 2-1 & 8-7.

Adam Coppen backed up Clayton by winning his two frames whereas Adam Watts managed three out of three for White Hart.

Rileys Woolwich go top of the league by one point with a 3-0 & 11-4 victory over Royal Oak.

Tony Halpin made it nine out of nine for the season with three wins for Rileys with Ritchie Mitchell also managing three out of three and Paul Donohoe two out of two.

Paul Clements put up the resistance for Royal Oak with two wins out of three including a fine seven ball clearance in the final set.

Pickwick’s dismal start to the season continues as Rileys Hotshots breezed past them 3-0 & 11-4, although they have now played each of the top three teams so hopefully they can start to turn it around next week.

Steve Krishnan and Danny Kelleher were the ones to watch for Hotshots, both winning all three of their frames while Dean James won three of Pickwick’s four frames.

New Eltham Social Club stay top of the SLKPA Tier Two East despite new boys Porcupine inflicting their first defeat by 2 sets to 1 and 8 frames to 7.

Even though the team lost Billy Dolby and Nicky Vince managed to keep their perfect records so far this season.

Glenmore Arms A go into second place after their 3-0 & 13-2 victory over Royal Standard.

It was a great all round team performance with James Grant and Paul Thomas both winning three out of three, Jeff Kingman and Alan Enever two out of two and Alan Rothwell and Mark Carrano winning their solitary frames.

Bellegrove Social Club A followed up their whitewash win last week with another big win this week by 3 sets to 0 and 13 frames to 2 against the Crown to go third in the table.

Stephen Pearce and Dan Foley both won all three of their frames to remain unbeaten for the season while Richard Marsh was somewhat fortunate in winning his two frames but is also unbeaten for the season with Gary Dixon also winning both his frames.

The Bellegrove boys were unusually happy when Captain Ron Brown was the first player to lose as this meant he had to get his wallet out and get a round in.

SLKPA’s Tier Two West had the unusual event of having two draws on the same night.

The first came as Glenmore Arms II surprised most by beating Bellegrove Social Club B 2-1 in sets but Bellegrove managed an 8-7 victory in frames to give each side two points.

The division leaders Fox under the Hill also shared two points with Beech Tree Nuthouse by winning 2-1 in sets despite the Nuthouse winning 8-7 in frames.

Craig Jones of the Nuthouse was the top performer winning all three of his frames with Fox’s Richard Merricks just behind on two out of two.

Fox stay top but Riley Choppers go one point behind with a 3-0 and 13-2 victory over Summerfield.

Rob Hearn, Enis Dogungun and Captain Darren Porter all scored three out of three with Alex Dobbins just behind on two out of two.

Rileys Rovers are in third by just one frame after a 2-1 & 9-6 victory over Kings Arms.

Kings Arms took the first set 3-2 but Rovers came back and won the second 4-1 after Martyn Wallace won his second of two frames.

The first two frames of the final set were shared after Grant Bedford also won two out of two for Rovers, with Kings Arms winning the next meaning Rovers needing the final two frames to win the set and the match overall, which they managed after two very close frames which could have gone either way.
