CHARLTON took their points total to 98 after they shared the honours with Preston at Deepdale in a 2-2 draw as the Addicks were pegged back by Graham Westley’s men.
Danny Haynes fired the champions into an early lead, which was doubled before the break by Dany N’Guessan.
But goals from Nicky Hunt and the Graham Alexander, who was making his final appearance at Deepdale before retiring, earned the home side a share of the points in a second half which they dominated.
On 11 minutes the returning Danny Hollands’ lofted through ball was latched onto by the speedy Haynes and with his back to home keeper Andreas Arestidou, he turned and fired in his first goal for the club.
The Addicks doubled their lead just past the half hour mark.
N’Guessan pounced onto Craig Morgan’s under hit back pass from a short goal kick and the Millwall loanee sprinted forward before rounding Arestidou and slotting in from 18-yards.
On 57 minutes the home side pulled one back with their first shot on target.
A corner was headed out as far as Hunt and the former Bolton man drove the ball goalwards, his effort which taking a deflection on its way into the net.
The hosts almost levelled on 82 minutes as Max Ehmer saw his volley cleared off the line by Leon Cort after a long Paul Coutts cross had been hooked back into the danger zone.
But they were back on terms in time added on.
Five minutes after being introduced Alexander curled home a free-kick from the edge of the box, which beat John Sullivan at his near post.
Wild celebrations ensued in the home stands in what has been a very disappointing season for the Lilywhites.
