KENNY Jackett is in no rush to get rid of any of his attacking players following the return of Josh McQuoid from his loan spell at Burnley this week.

McQuoid spent three months with the Clarets, joining the likes of Shaun Batt (Crawley) and Dany N’Guessan (Charlton) to have spent temporary stays away from The Den this year.

But far from hastening their permanent departures from the club, manager Jackett instead chose to emphasise the benefits to the Lions this morning of allowing his players to get game time elsewhere.

He said: “We have a few forwards who we’ve loaned out in the second half of the season.

“Josh would be one along with Dany N’Guessan and Shaun Batt.

“I have time for all of them and I think they can all develop and eventually do well for Millwall.

“It is not a situation where you can get caught short for forwards, which has happened to me in the past. It is hard to get forwards in at Championship level – very hard and very expensive.

“The forwards that I have I’m in no real rush to get rid of.

“If other clubs or the player feel differently then obviously the ball is in their court, but for me with all of those lads I’m looking for them to do well for Millwall.

“You must have some sort of structure and players in place otherwise if you do get caught for forwards it can be very expensive.

“As well as those guys I’ve mentioned we also have the likes of Darius Henderson, Andy Keogh, young John Marquis and Aiden O’Brien.

“All those players are at different stages but if we want to be an established and top 10 Championship club we need to be developing players and having some options as well, particularly in that position.”

Jackett also confirmed he hasn’t heard from opposite number Chris Powell about N’Guessan, although his stay at The Valley was being closely monitored.

“There hasn’t been any contact from Charlton,” explained the Lions chief.

“He is there until the end of the season, which is a week after ours.

“I’ve been pleased with what he has done there, we’ve watched all the games and he has got a few goals.

“It is similar to Josh McQuoid’s loan at Burnley whereby Dany has played in different positions.

“He has been wide left, wide right and has come on as a substitute up front.

“It has been good experience for him, we’ve watched it closely and from our point of view we want to develop these players to do well for Millwall.”

But despite the return of McQuoid and his impressive recent form at Turf Moor, Jackett appears reluctant to use the Ulsterman in this weekend’s final game of the season at home to Blackpool.

He said: “It very much depends on what happens with my other players this week.

“The team which is playing is in a very good run of form and I don’t want to disrupt it too much.

“On the other hand we have couple of injuries to Liam Trotter and Josh Wright, who we will see about probably this afternoon whether they are fit or not.

“My team selection will probably go off those injuries but for this weekend I don’t particularly want to make changes when we don’t need to because the team is in a winning habit.

“Darius Henderson is fully fit and has trained, which is a good thing, and he will definitely be a good addition for us. A front three of Kane, Henderson and Keogh isn’t an option I’ve had too often.

“We did it at Doncaster and we did very well.”
