A PAIR of judo stars from north Kent have been selected to represent Team GB at the Paralympic Games this summer.

Ben Quilter, from Stone, and Dartford’s Joe Ingram will fly the flag after they were officially confirmed as squad members yesterday.

Ingram said: “I am really pleased with the announcement.

“It has taken a lot of hard work to get to this point and I have high ambitions for the year.

“Competing at a home Games is special.

“It makes you nervous, but I am really looking forward to it.”

Quilter finished fifth in Beijing but in recent years has produced some strong performances, winning gold at both the 2011 IBSA World Games in Antalya, Turkey, and the 2011 European Championships in Crawley.

He said: “It feels really good to be selected to ParalympicsGB and I am proud to be able to compete at a home Games.

“As world number one there is definitely pressure, but I will focus on my performance.”
