KENNY Jackett is hopeful Saturday’s pre-match tribute to Millwall legend Barry Kitchener will have a positive impact on his team's disappointing home form against Hull City.

The Lions have lost the last four games at The Den and are looking to put on performance worthy of the occasion as supporters prepare to honour club legend Kitchener, who died last Friday at the age of 64.

Jackett said: “There will be a big crowd and our thoughts are with him and his family.

"Barry was a very popular player and quite rightly so with the service he gave to the club, so we are looking for a fitting tribute and a big result for him.

"I certainly hope the occasion has a positive effect on the squad.”

Millwall’s last home victory in the league was a 1-0 triumph over fellow strugglers Portsmouth on Boxing Day, but Jackett has pinpointed the Hull game as the time to turn things around.

He explained: "Hull game is a massive match for us.

"We feel we have been playing quite well at home.

“The last two performances against Leeds United and Southampton have been good, too good to get no points out of.

"Even looking back against Reading, it was quite a controversial goal we got beaten by in a tight game so we have to keep our performance level high and believe in ourselves.

"With this game against Hull, and then playing at home against Leicester the following Saturday, we have to trust that the home form will come back our way because it has not been particularly good.

"Our performances have been good enough to win games, there is no doubt about that."

Despite a disappointing run of results at The Den, Jackett believes his team are strong enough to survive in a tough league.

He added: "Everyone is fully focused on making sure that we get the points to stay in this league.

"We are in a battle at the bottom off the table but it is in our hands.

"If we can win sufficient games then teams will be unable to catch us."
