CHRIS Powell is determined Leyton Orient will not become the only team in League One to complete the double over Charlton this season when they meet on Saturday.

The Os became only the second side this season to beat the leaders when they defeated the Addicks 1-0 on New Year’s Eve.

And with Powell’s side currently out of form having picked up only four points from the last available 15, Orient will fancy their chances, something the Valley chief is keen to avoid at all costs.

Powell said: "We do not want that to happen, we are looking forward to it but we do not want any team to have that double over us.

"We want to remain in the position we are in on the back of a positive result – a good victory at home.

"I think a London derby is always good.

"Our fans in the last home game against Yeovil were very good and we repaid them with a clean sheet and three goals, we will be looking for that again."

Orient bounced back from last weekend’s 1-0 home defeat at the homes of Sheffield Wednesday with an impressive1-0 victory away at Oldham on Tuesday.

Powell added: "They played Sheffiled Wednesday last week at home and followed that with a long trip up to Oldham, which would really perk them up winning at Oldham, which is a notoriously difficult place to get points.

“It is good for them and it’s a London derby for us.

"I am sure they will bring a few fans through the tunnel and our fans will be in good voices like they always are.

"We really have to go for the game and if we have to calm it down somewhat, we will but it is a game we are all looking forward to.

"We do not need any motivation for a London derby and it is a good game for us but Russell Slade will be thinking the same about his team.”

And Powell is challenging his table-topping side to bounce back from last weekend’s 1-0 defeat at Huddersfield by returning to winning ways against the Os.

He said: “We had a disappointing result at Huddersfield last week, topped off by a sending off.

“I felt we should have gone away from a tight game with a point.

“We’ve got to prepare and be ready for a local derby against Leyton Orient but we have trained well and the boys have been in good spirits. We are in a terrific place.

“It is about the run in and it is about getting results and the first result we are looking for is a positive one against Orient.”

One player who will not be involved this weekend is Darel Russell, who saw red for the second time this season at the Galpharm.

As well as being handed an automatic four-game ban, Russell will also miss the trip to parent club Preston on April 28 as part of the loan agreement with the Deepdale side.

But Russell’s bad fortune creates an opening for someone else in the squad, as the manager explained: “Darel was having a chance, which he warranted and wanted, but sadly got sent off.

“That is his second sending off so that’s four games factoring in the Preston game where he is on loan from, so that’s five games.

“Five out of seven games is tough for him but I have told him to prepare and train because he may be needed for those two games.

“It is a loss but, like I say, we have a squad that includes Dale Stephens, Andy Hughes and Bradley Pritchard to come in and I want one of them to make the difference to the team.”
