SCOTT Wagstaff looks set to be given more chances between now and the end of the season after coming off the bench in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Rochdale.

Wagstaff’s last first team involvement came on January 7 when he came on as a substitute to replace Danny Green in the FA Cup third round tie at Fulham.

In an identical change on Tuesday, Wagstaff was introduced for Green with 25 minutes remaining and manager Chris Powell hinted today Waggy can expect to be involved again at some point soon.

The Addicks chief said: “Like most players who aren’t in the team regularly, they want to have a chance and it is not always easy to get them in.

“If the team is functioning or getting results, you can’t always put them in.

“Of course when you’ve had one or two draws you kind of think someone like Scott can freshen it up, give us a new impetus and he will do.

“He has been very patient and of course he was a vital part of our team and played a good part in our unbeaten run at the start of the season. It will come again.”

Powell added: “Players will get frustrated but as I’ve always said, and it was proved on Tuesday night, you never know when the opportunity will come and when it comes, take it to give me food for thought.

“You’ve got to come in and make a difference because of where we are and what we are trying to achieve.

“We don’t have much time now for players to say ‘I need three or four games’.

“Each and every game is vital now to us.

“I was pleased Scott came on and he was involved in one or two situations which were really positive for us in trying to get the winner, but I’m sure he will get opportunities sooner rather than later.”
