Millwall are edging closer to completing a permanent deal for Aston Villa defender Shane Lowry.

Lowry has impressed since joining the Lions on loan in November and Den boss Kenny Jackett revealed earlier this month he wanted a full-time switch.

It hasn’t happened yet but Jackett confirmed this morning the two clubs remain on course to get the move completed before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.

“It is something we are working on,” the Millwall manager said.

“Our chief executive Andy Ambler is working with Villa on it at the minute but I don’t expect the deal to be done before Saturday.”

Jackett was in the stands to see Stevenage beat MK Dons on Tuesday night, adding fuel to recent speculation the Lions were preparing to make a bid for Stevenage defender Scott Laird.

However, although admitting he was at the game, the Lions boss denied Laird was on Millwall’s radar.

“No, there is nothing in that,” he said.
