JASON Euell says he still has a big part to play in Charlton’s promotion bid despite sealing a loan move to Wimbledon earlier this week.

Euell has already made 15 appearances for the Addicks this season following his summer return to SE7, but most of those have come from the bench.

With regular football more likely at Kingsmeadow, the chance to make a return to another of his former clubs in a one-month loan deal proved too strong for the veteran to resist earlier this week – but Euell promises he will be back in SE7.

He told News Shopper’s sister paper Wimbledon Guardian: “It was something I wanted to do.

“I knew from when I spoke to Chris Powell a few weeks ago that (Wimbledon coach) Simon Bassey had been on his case before the loan window shut last year.

“I said to the manager last week about maybe going out on loan to get some games and to then be ready for the final push.

“He said he had had another call from Simon and for me it made sense to get some games.

“I have had a lot of appearances off the bench in the league and played the cup games so I just need some games.

“It is just about going out on loan and then going back for the title push – that’s what Chris said to me and I pretty much said it to him at the same time.

“I would rather get some games under my belt and be ready.”
