CHRIS Powell is waiting for Preston to appoint a new manager before any decision can be made on Darel Russell’s Valley future.
The midfielder joined the Addicks on loan last month until early January, a move which went through with the approval of then Deepdale boss Phil Brown.
Russell has settled in quickly in London and scored Charlton’s goal in last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Oldham.
However, Brown’s sacking by Preston means the 31-year-old’s long-term future remains up in the air for now.
Powell said: “Preston now have to appoint a manager.
“I don’t know what he will think whether he wants to bring him back, because we’ve only got him until the beginning of January. We will see.
“He has performed well, but sometimes it is out of your hands and we will just have to liaise with Preston early in January and see where we go.”
