CRYSTAL Palace manager Peter Taylor saw his team pick up a second straight win in the Championship to boost their promotion campaign.

Clinton Morrison grabbed the only goal of the game after 55 minutes which saw 10-man Coventry sent back to the Midlands with nothing.

It is Palace's second 1-0 win on the bounce and confirms a stop to the poor form which had seen the Eagles go four games with a win.

Peter Taylor said: "I think we deserved the win in the end.

"The pleasing thing was, like in the game at Norwich last weekend, it was a good team performance today and much better than Luton and Southampton.

"The whole team worked really hard and incredibly quickly to get into positions which made us more solid to play against and it's very encouraging."

Morrison's second goal of the season was the clincher, with both Dougie Freedman and Shefki Kuqi having to settle for substitute appearances.

Taylor is pleased to have four good strikers at his disposal.

He said: "Coventry showed today they had four outstanding strikers and we do too.

"It is frustrating to be on the bench but when they come on they need to impress and this is what's happening.

"Even though it's a selection nightmare, it's good to have two strikers wanting to come on and play a part."

He added: "I want everyone in the squad to be happy but it's difficult with a squad of 21 or so players."

The first half showed Coventry were going to be difficult to break down but patience was called upon from the boss.

He said: "In a very tight first half we probably had the better chances but I said to the lads at half time one would come and to stay patient.

"It did through a very good goal by Clinton. Even though it came out of the blue it was one we worked hard for."
