DARTFORD brushed aside Harrow Borough to set up an FA Cup derby date at Cray Wanderers.

Saturday's second qualifying round tie at Princes Park got off to a bizarre start when, in the second minute, Ryan Hayes was hacked down by Harrow skipper Danny Leach, who was red-carded by referee Michael Webb.

Was it pre-planned? Was it spur of the moment?

Whatever, it seemed to be an act to reduce the threat posed by a player capable of turning any game on its head.

A defensive reshuffle for Harrow was needed and, after three minutes of intensive care for Hayes, Wayne Wallace replaced Lee Wootton.

Harrow never recovered from the self-imposed dramatic opening.

A three-goal spree in 14 minutes settled the tie in Darts' favour and two more in the second half ensured a safe passage into the next round.

On 11 minutes Charlie Sheringham, who pre-match received the Conference South player-of-the-month award for September, broke clear of the visitors' defence to set up James Rogers, who coolly fired past Keita Karamoto.

Four minutes later a sweeping Dartford move ended with Elliot Bradbrook doubling the advantage.

Leading scorer Sheringham converted a Hayes right-side corner at the far post on 25 minutes to complete the first half scoring.

Visibly easing off, Darts were fortunate on the stroke of half-time when Jon-Jo Bates beat Andrew Young, only to see his effort rebound off the bar.

Tom Bonner lashed home from near the back post four minutes into the second half from a Hayes right-side corner.

And the final nail in the coffin came when Lee Burns outstripped the wilting Harrow defence to place his shot out of Karamoko's reach.

A word of praise is due to the Harrow keeper, who interceded with the referee when Sheringham was cautioned.

He also had a great rapport with behind-the-goal Darts' supporters, even the juvenile element.

Karamoko shook hands with them post-match and even had a special moment for a very young girl supporter.

Sir, you are a gentleman!
