CHRIS Powell expects Yado Mambo to agree a one-month loan deal with Conference side Ebbsfleet United today.

The defender was first linked with a temporary move to Stonebridge Road last week, but Charlton’s involvement in the Carling Cup put a temporary delay on any move going through.

Mambo came off the bench at half-time in Tuesday’s 2-0 Valley defeat at the hands of Preston to replace Simon Francis at right-back.

And although satisfied with the display considering Mambo is a central defender, the Addicks’ exit from the competition means the Fleet deal will now happen, despite interest from fellow Conference side Hayes & Yeading.

Powell said: “We’ve had a couple of Conference clubs in for Yado and he will be deciding today.

“It looks as if he will go to Ebbsfleet.

“They have been looking but we’ve had one or two other clubs sniffing around.

“It looks like he will go there (Ebbsfleet) for a month and that will be good for him.”

Powell added: “He came on out of position on Tuesday and did OK, but he is a centre back and he needs games.

“We feel he has got some good qualities, he is just a young man and had to learn in quite difficult circumstances against Preston to go right-back against a decent player and do OK.

“I’m hoping now the month at Ebbsfleet will do him the world of good.

“He will still remain with us and we will keep a watchful eye on his training, but he will play games for Ebbsfleet for a month so it will be good for him.

“We are hoping maybe one or two others will get out but the loan market as a whole isn’t that busy.

“That shows something to me that a lot of clubs are just taking stock of their squads and players they have at the moment.”
