JOHN Marquis is set to go under the surgeon’s knife after continuing to struggle with a hernia problem.

The striker will continue to play through the pain barrier for the Lions in the short term but manager Kenny Jackett knows it is a problem which is going to have to be dealt with sooner rather than later.

He told News Shopper: “John Marquis needs a hernia operation at some stage but it will probably coincide with the international break.

“I’ll have to see and use him sparingly in the meantime.

“He is still in the squad but it is something I have to address.”
