INJURED Charlton trio Souleymane Diawara, Djimi Traore and Andy Reid will all miss Saturday's match with Portsmouth and are set for spells on the sidelines.

The trio - all brought to the club by Iain Dowie this summer - were forced from the field during last Saturday's Premiership fixture against Chelsea.

And the latest news is they face weeks of treatment before being available for selection again.

The most serious injury was sustained by Traore, who joined from Liverpool last month in a £2m deal.

The left-back suffered a hairline fracture to the fibular of his left leg in a challenge with Blues striker Andriy Shevchenko and is now wearing a protective boot.

Charlton's head of the medical department Wayne Diesel said: "It's only a small fracture but unfortunately it's enough to give Djimi trouble when he puts weight on it.

"With fractures it's hard to estimate how long they will take to heal because there is little you can do to encourage the healing; you have to rely on the natural healing process."

Both Reid, a purchase from Tottenham Hotspur in a £3m deal, and Senegal international centre-half Diawara, who arrived from French side Sochaux for £3.7m the day before the transfer deadline, have hamstring injuries.

Diesel added: "The soft tissue injuries are quite similar but from the scans it seems there has been less trauma with Andy.

"The good news is both players were feeling a lot better on Tuesday and hopefully they will be moving around more freely by the end of the week."

The injuries are the latest in a catalogue of problems for new Addicks head coach Dowie, who also has Jerome Thomas (metatarsal), Gonzalo Sorondo (back), Cory Gibbs (knee) and Jonathan Fortune (toe) currently receiving treatment, while Hermann Hreidarsson still has two more games of a three-match suspension to serve.
