After the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Elite League finished last week our focus turns to the lower divisions and bottom of the Tier Two East all season New Eltham Social Club finished in style with their second win of the season.

Leather Bottle were the visitors and after a string of good results were expected to come away with the victory but the home side had other ideas and ran out victors by 2 sets to 1 and 8 frames to 7.

New Eltham were inspired by their Captain Steve Unwin who won all three of his frames as did Alan Rothwell for the away team.

The two top teams met each other with nothing at stake except pride, as Erith Snooker Master 8’ers were already champions and White Hart had secured second spot and the play off.

Erith won the previous two encounters this season but it was White Hart that came away with the pride this time with a 2-1 8-7 win.

The Master 8’ers started well winning the first set 3-2 but White Hart took the next two sets by the same score line with Alex Thompson winning his third of the night to secure the final set and the match.

Bellegrove B won the first set against Our Lady of the Rosary 3-2 but fell to pieces in the second losing it 4-1 before regaining their composure to take the last set 3-2 and win the match 2-1 in sets but because of Our Lady’s excellent second set they share the points after going down 8-7 in frames.

Jamie Kay was the only player to win all three of his frames on the night for Bellegrove.

In Tier Two West Bellegrove’s A side knew they had to win big if they had any chance of stealing second spot from Rack Pack and they did just that with a 3-0 11-4 victory over Kings Arms.

This put them one point ahead of Rack Pack who were playing division champions Rileys A so they were in with a chance.

The game between the top two was a topsy turvy one with individual frames as well as the match swinging either way.

Rack Pack must have thought it wasn’t going to be their night when Sean O’Connor was on the verge of a well earned break and dish only to see the cue ball drop after pocketing the black to hand Joe Kane the frame without even picking up his cue.

Rileys won the match by 2 sets to 1 with that single set taking Rack Pack level on points with Bellegrove so the overall frame score was all the more important as the bonus point would have secured the second spot that they have occupied all season, which they managed to do with an 8-7 win in frames.

In the Reserve League champions Greenwich Town Social Club made it eight wins out of eight with an 8-4 victory over Quid Pro Cue.

Behind them the race for second place is hotting up as Picwick Academicals drew 6-6 with Boston Crabs to stay one point ahead of them but The Crabs do visit the unbeaten league leaders in the final game next week.

Gary Mason and Chris Bracey shared The Ackies six frames between them with three wins each but Richard Lenaghan went one better for the visitors winning all four of his frames.
