The South London & Kent Pool Alliance held two more competitions this month with Rob Chalmers of Rileys A becoming the Singles champion.

One of the strongest line ups ever battled it out for this season’s Singles title, which was reflected in two of the league’s hottest young talents meeting in the first round.

Eighteen year olds Ryan Francis and Jordan O’Connor faced each other in what should have been a close match but O’Connor went through quite easily by 3 frames to 0.

After meeting each other in the Sudden Death competition Matt Flockhart and Rod Altes were again drawn against each other in the first round of this tournament and the outcome was the same with Altes going through 3-1.

Kevin England almost caused an upset against Alex Thompson but Thompson managed to squeeze through 3-2, as did Naftali Ayieko against Pankaj Chilkoti.

The match between Adam Coppen and Luke Pritchard wasn’t as close with Coppen winning 3-0 and Rob Chalmers found it just as easy against Allan Formosa as he won by the same score.

Chris Gaunt found himself up against Adam Everitt, who had found some form and triumphed by 3 frames to 1.

After his tough game in the first round, Alex Thompson found it much easier in the second as he went through to the quarter final by beating Steve Krishnan 3-0.

Also winning 3-0 in this round was Adam Coppen against Kevin McNelly, Tony Gear versus Richard Merricks and James Sheed over Grant Bedford.

Adam Everitt only dropped one frame in the first round and matched this in the second as he triumphed over Jason Brunton 3-1 and Rod Altes matched this against Jordan O’Connor.

Rob Chalmers met former team mate Andre Cox and as expected a close match followed with Chalmers the eventual victor by 3 frames to 2.

There was another close match between George Covington and Naftali Ayieko which Covington won by the same 3-2 score line.

Just like the Sudden Death competition the quarter finals in this one were incredibly strong.

In the last round Chalmers went through 3-2 and he did the same again but this time it was against Adam Everitt.

Chalmers Rileys A team mate James Sheed also went through with a 3-2 score line, beating Sudden Death champion Tony Gear.

Adam Coppen made it three Rileys A players in the semi final after dropping his first frame of the tournament in his 3-1 victory over Alex Thompson.

Rod Altes joined the Rileys A players in the semi with a 3-0 win over George Covington.

Altes played Sheed and Coppen met Chalmers in what turned out to be two great games of pool.

Coppen couldn’t keep up the form that saw him lose only one frame in the competition so far and went down 4-2 to Chalmers.

In the other game Altes just edged it against Sheed going through by 4 frames to 3 in a match that could have gone either way.

The final also went right to the wire with neither player able to go more than one frame ahead of the other.

It was a tense game with both players playing some excellent pool, matching each other shot for shot but the game had to finish at some point and it was Chalmers who managed to get over the line, winning the match by 5 frames to 4 to take the title and £80 prize money.
