CHARLTON boss Chris Powell is happy with his transfer dealings this summer but will add to the squad if he can before the August deadline.
And Powell admits it is ultimately down to the owners whether he will be able to bring in more bodies as the club look to gain promotion from League One this season.
He said: “I tried to do my business as early as I could but I think we're always on the look out for good players.
“I still might do one or two things.
“We’ve got until the end of August, but I’m really happy with what I've got so far.
“If I can improve it, I will. If the owner and chairman allow me to do that then I will, but at the moment I’m happy.”
It remains to be seen whether Powell will target certain areas for improvement just yet after building a squad which includes 11 new signings.
He added: “It would be more of a question whether someone is available at the standard we can afford.
“I’d look at it and see if they were right for us. I feel so far the players I’ve brought in have fitted in really well.”
Despite a 1-1 draw with Aldershot, Powell insists it is all about the league and there are still things he wants to continue working on in training.
The boss explained: “You want them to do well in pre-season but once the fixtures come round, that’s the business and the one that really matters.
“You want to win games and people will look at the draw against Aldershot, but I look at it as some snippets there to work on.
“There were some good passages of play which we need to do more regularly but I’m pleased at the moment.”
Simon Francis had been heavily linked with a move to Bournemouth last week and with the announcement of Alan McCormack joining Swindon Town today, Powell claimed the duo had trained hard over pre-season.
“I spoke to the two players, they’re good lads but I've said it may be tough for them to play this year and I want to be fair to them,” said Powell.
“They’ve been training, they didn't go away with us, but they trained hard because at the end of the day, they need to be ready if something happens for them somewhere else or even here.
“Clubs have been enquiring about them but if something is right for them and us, then of course it will happen.”
