MEXICAN trialist Antonio Pedroza Whitham got another chance to impress Dougie Freedman by playing 80 minutes of Crystal Palace’s 4-0 victory at East Grinstead Town last night.

Pedroza Whitham was joined in the starting line-up by fellow trialist Renee as Freedman looked on from the sidelines.

The Palace boss later confirmed: “Pedroza’s going to be with us until the end of the week and we will keep looking at him, but he’s done well and I’m impressed with the young guy.

“Renee has just been released from Ajax and we are having a look at him.”

A young Palace side controlled the game from the off and took the lead on the half-hour mark through Quade Taylor, the young centre-back converting Andy Dorman’s outswinging corner with a deft looping header.

The lead was quickly doubled five minutes later as Kieron Cadogan cut inside, beating a couple of defenders before rifling home his low shot from just outside the penalty area.

The break did nothing to change the flow of the game and Calvin Andrew extended The Eagles’ advantage in the 55th minute.

Palace’s non-league opposition defended admirably and it looked as if that would be the end of the scoring.

But substitute Nathaniel Pinney rounded the keeper to slide in his side’s fourth in the 90th minute to complete a comfortable victory for the young Eagles.

Freedman was pleased with the win and his side’s preparations for the new season, which is now just over two weeks away, although he admitted he is still on the lookout for a few more players to add to his squad before the big kick-off.

He added: “We’re still looking to get a few players in but overall we’re happy.

“Everything seems to be going quite well at the moment.”
