JAMES Henry scored a hat-trick in Millwall’s emphatic win over Dartford at Princes Park.

Pre-season games are for managers and coaches to check out the players at their disposal.

The result of any encounter is of secondary importance, how the players shape up is what really counts.

Kenny Jackett's charges are good and the four divisions between the two sides was there for all to see.

Right from the off, the visitors ran the show.

In turn Hameur Bouazza, Darius Henderson, Henry and Tony Craig sparked assaults up the left, swinging in a variety of crosses which Darts initially did well to deal with.

It was the same up the right.

Millwall took the lead on 10 minutes when Henry was in place to hit the first of his three goals past Andrew Young.

The effort probably should never been allowed as Tom Champion appeared to be fouled in the build up.

Seven minutes later it was two for the Lions as new boy Henderson curled a shot beyond Young after fine build-up work by Liam Trotter and Josh McQuoid.

Darts did have their moments in between with an Adam Green effort just wide of Steve Mildenhall's right post and a Tom Bonner header from a Lee Noble right-side cross whistling over.

As a contest it was over five minutes before the break as Henry netted from a suspiciously offside position.

The second half was more of the same with Henry completing his hat-trick on 63 minutes with a crisp finish.

And the scoring was completed when McQuoid blasted home from fully 35 yards, an effort which left Young with no chance with just seven minutes on the clock to the delight of most of the impressive crowd of 2,437.

Apart from the fact Darts are unlikely to meet sides of Millwall's class very often in the coming campaign, manager Tony Burman must be pleased his players battled for the whole 90 minutes, keeping their shape, despite the odds.
