Racon makes Millwall switch

THERRY Racon has signed a two-year deal with Millwall after his contract at Charlton ran out.

The midfielder was a free agent and although offered a new deal by the Addicks, he has decided to snub it in favour of a short move across town to rivals Millwall.

Racon told the Millwall website: “As soon as my agent told me of Millwall’s interest I was happy to sign here.

“Millwall are a big club and coming here will be a good challenge and opportunity for me back in the Championship.

“I know Hamer Bouazza from our time together in France and I know about the fans from having played here for Charlton.

“I’ve played at The Den only once and it was a nightmare, we lost 4-0.

“But I know what it’s like with the fans and I can’t wait to play in front of them.”

Racon scored three league goals for Charlton in 39 appearances last year but his controversial switch is bound to infuriate Addicks supporters.

News Shopper’s Charlton reporter Liam Happe said: “Despite the two clubs currently residing in different divisions, it will leave a sour taste in the mouth of every Charlton fan to see Therry donning the blue shirt.

“While not as much as sucker-punch as it would be if Jose Semedo joined the Lions, for obvious reasons, it will be tough to cope with the prospect of Racon performing - and performing well - for Millwall.

“It would really ram home what could have been at The Valley, as despite his inconsistencies Therry has proven himself to be a dangerous player at both League One and Championship level.

“I can't help but partly sympathise with him as he's settled into the area and obviously wants to continue to earn as good a living as possible at the highest level he can.

“But I hope he realises what he will have let himself in for if he does move to The Den from the Charlton fans he's made a lot of effort to mingle and integrate with at every fans' evening he has participated in since joining the Addicks.”

Good riddance Racon. You couldn't Defend , you couldn't attack and you were a lousy midfielder and ever since Parkinson bought you we have gone rapidly down hill. Perfect for that " massive" club Millwall .

Uninspiring signing, we will be getting a few more before the season starts if the players we have been linked with are anything to go by.
