MILLWALL maintained their unbeaten home record this season but Nigel Spackman will see it as having dropped two points instead of gaining one.

The Lions may be plagued by injuries but Spackman refused to make excuses for his team's dismal performance despite catcalls from disgruntled fans.

He said: "This is two points dropped and you want to win your home games.

"I thought some of our build up play at times was good especially in the first half but it is still the final cross, final header or final shot which let us down."

He added: "I can understand the supporters' frustration because we're at the wrong end of the table but they're a very knowledgeable crowd here.

"We've got a clear week now so hopefully we can get some of our injured players back but we can't use this as an excuse because every team gets injuries."

His team started brightly with captain Derek McInnes putting the ball inches over the bar inside the first 10 minutes.

New boy Danny Senda made an impressive start linking well during the first 45 minutes with Marvin Williams.

The stalemate came closest to being broken in the 28th minute when Neal Ardley's inswinging corner was met by Kevin Braniff at the near post but his header skimmed the top of the bar.

Blackpool, barely existent in the first half, put up a fight after the break and they came close with Andy Morrell thumping a good opportunity over the bar from six yards.

Chris Day, in the Lions goal because of Lenny Pidgeley's suspension, saved Keigan Parker's shot from inside the box.

It fell to Scott Vernon who promptly wasted the chance to put Blackpool ahead by missing the target.

Poul Hubertz came on at half time and made a difference winning balls in the air and retaining possession but the absence of clinical finishing from the Lions frontline remained apparent.

Millwall were put under more pressure as the game went on and when they did counter-attack they lacked composure in the final third of the pitch and rarely looked like scoring.

Blackpool went for the win as the game drew to a close but Millwall held on for a valuable point.

However, they are still languishing near the foot of the table in 21st spot.
