KENNY Jackett says he was extremely impressed by David Forde’s international debut in last night’s stunning 2-0 win for the Republic of Ireland in Italy.
Millwall’s number one always looked extremely comfortable when called upon to make a save against the four-time World Cup winners.
It has been a long wait for the man from Galway to get his chance on the international stage, but he certainly didn’t disappoint when his chance finally came along according to his club manager.
Jackett said: “I was really pleased with how David did against what is a world class team.
“He had a few saves to make and did very well.
“I thought it was a very good all-round defensive performance by the Irish.
“What makes it even sweeter for David is the fact he is into his 30s now and has had to do it the hard way to get the international call.”
